THE BUZZ: That's a dumb title. Ford knows audiences love it when he's in peril, so he's back in action-thriller mode and he's brought an excellent supporting cast along for the ride. Hopefully director Richard Loncraine's presence will be minimal.

After a few hours of snorting drugs and carousing with some ladies, Syd works up the nerve to suggest to London that they share a final night together.
THE BUZZ: Why would you go see London when you can be this stupid in real life? Isn't this why The Rules of Attraction tanked? Hunter Richards's "noxious debut film" (from Variety) has a grip over its actors, most of whom have gone on to better things since this project was made, and could suffer minor setbacks when this is pulled apart by critics and fans alike.

THE BUZZ: Once known as "the gay cowboy movie," Ang Lee's foray into Western territory was originally dogged by controversy at every turn, from the (rather graphic) screenplay excerpts leaked on the Internet, to clashes between the director and screenwriter Larry McMurtry (which were later chalked up to basic misunderstandings), to the film's almost-inclusion at Cannes (it wasn't finished yet). Once the film screened at the Venice Venice Film Fest, however, and the audience was left sobbing (and the film won the top prize), the awards buzz began, and the industry's other premiere films -- Capote and Walk the Line among them -- struggled to get out of the shadow Brokeback cast.

THE BUZZ: Sure, Underworld was a theatrical and DVD success, but fans ultimately felt underserved by the film's sense of history and gun-heavy action scenes. (Okay, maybe not "fans" as much as "me".) Director Les Wiseman sough to make a sequel that wouldn't skimp on chapter of history and buckets of blood. What this all means is: More Kate in leather! More cheesy slo-mo leaps from tall buildings! More lycans and vamps with guns! More ... Speedman! In the sequel to Beckinsale's breakout movie, we're promised a Dark Ages werewolf vs. vampire battle, and a glimpse of Corvinus, the father of both species!
Review: 4 out of 10 stars: This picture is little more than a muddled epilogue to the story introduced in 2003's Underworld. Seemingly confused by its own legacy, Underworld: Evolution has anti-climatic secrets for you to puzzle out, provided you don't throw yourself to the wolves before the third act.

THE BUZZ: Lin's Better Luck Tomorrow was so influential that Disney pulled him up from the minors to make their military vision a reality (three years, three boxing films -- what gives?). We think it'll take a nation of analysts and marketing types to determine this film's target audience, and then get them into theaters in January. We're holding out for Lin's remake of Oldboy, anyway.
Review: 3 out of 10 stars: Maybe it was just because I was sick, but I found Annapolis to be the best thing for a cold since Nyquil. It calmed me, it soothed me, it helped me to forget about my stuffy sinuses and body aches, and ultimately it lulled me into a deep, pleasant sleep. Five bucks says the same's true for Shrek writer-director Adamson, who jumps from DreamWorks to Disney to pilot his first live-action solo project. Obviously, Disney's eyeing this as the first in a potential franchise of seven films, though Wardrobe is the only book that has been optioned to date. Over the summer, the marketing forces behind The Passion of the Christ's global success signed up to work the film; the classy, omni-present campaign will be enough for Narnia to reign supreme until Kong comes to town.

THE BUZZ: We like Sanaa Lathan, and we love UPN's Girlfriends (doesn't this look like a 100-minute episode of that show?), so we're near-ecstatic for director Sanaa Hamri's debut. Two Sanaas. One smart-sounding romantic comedy. What's not to like?
Review: 7 out of 10 stars: Something New is an ideal romantic comedy. Director Sanaa Hamri and screenwriter Kriss Turner conspire to revitalize the genre with an atypical mix of humor, conflict, and drama, and they are steadfast in their intention to entertain, not preach.
